#057 S51 - The UFO Pokémon
Type: Psychic/Steel
Ability: Levitate
Dex: A peculiar life-form that hovers above the ground with a mysterious force. Rumors say they came from outer space.
Evolves into S51-A at level 40
There are several "alien" Pokemon in canon, or Pokemon that are rumored to have come from outer space: Clefairy, Elgyem, Lunatone and Solrock, and others. Thus far, though, there hasn't been a straight-up UFO Pokemon, which was a grave oversight in my mind. S51 is supposed to resemble a little green man in a spaceship, S51-A even moreso. The "S" in its name is supposed to be short for "Subject", and the "51" is of course from Area 51. There are Pokemon with numbers in their names -- I'm thinking mainly of Porygon2 -- and giving it a name like that helps identify it as something strange and otherworldly.
S51 is a rare Pokemon in Tandor. There's currently only one place you can get it in-game, and it's an optional sidequest that can only be done at night, between 6PM and 6AM (I think -- of course, you can always adjust your computer's clock.) If you miss that sidequest, then you can't get it later because the area becomes inaccessible after a certain point. After that, the only way to obtain an S51 is to trade with another player. So, because so many people were missing that sidequest, we included a shiny S51 as the previous (now discontinued) Mystery Gift.
S51 is one of my simplest designs. If you are just learning to draw, and want to practice drawing a Pokemon from Tandor, I recommend drawing S51!
